Newsletter September 2016

02-11-2016

After our last newsletter, we ended the financial year for 2015/16 with fine results and with focus on future investments. Part of Hosta Industries’ strategic goals is to gear the entire organisation for further development. In other words, focus is on skill boosting, as well as technological development and investment in new material.

Capacity on all fronts – securing delivery and quality
Over the past year, we have grown on all fronts, today counting approx. 80 employees. We have hired more employees in production, where we operate 24 hours a day, and two new staff members have been added to order processing and technical sales support, where Lisbeth Sørensen and René Hansen are ready to receive our customers’ orders and queries. All this to ensure a faster response time, from order receipt and quotation to delivery. In addition to response and delivery time, quality is the most important parameter for our customers, and to ensure that we are still able to deliver on this front, we have now hired Thomas Jonstrup as quality technician. He helps make sure every day that we have the right processes and that we continually improve and fulfil the rising and ever more differentiated quality requirements.

Technological development
We have also seen developments in our machinery fleet, and we are currently in the process of installing a new HAAS VF5 vertical cutter with a 4th axel, to help the increased sales we have seen in our CNC department. The new CNC cutter covers the need for being able to work with larger items and have several items attached all at once. With a working area of 1524 x 660 x 635 mm and a stronger machine, it creates new opportunities in cutting and turnkey deliveries. With the recent investments, the fleet in CNC cutting counts four cutters and one lathe.

In the near future, we will be going to the EuroBLECH fair in Hannover. Here, we will be securing our future by staying one step ahead in terms of bending and laser cutting solutions. An important part of the future is the development of solutions where robots can improve productivity and reduce costs. With that in mind, we have also established a cooperation with DIS (Dansk Ingeniør Service). They are specialists in innovative engineering service and will be helping us initially with new opportunities in robotic welding. A partnership that will help secure optimal solutions for our customers.

LEAN – a strategy that creates value for both customers and employees
Three years ago, we began working with LEAN principles here at Hostra Industries, and it has been an exciting journey. It is a journey that is not over, but which will continue for years to come. The most recent initiative is that we trained a number of LEAN ambassadors in August, where a total of 15 employees from all departments gained knowledge and inspiration for Hosta Industries’ LEAN journey. Everyone is to help ensure regular improvements – from the quotation to the final delivery. It is important to us to regularly improve so we are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow together with our customers.

Part of the journey is about communicating Hosta Industries’ strategic ambition to all employees, where focus is on maintaining and attracting customers to the business. Keywords like quality, delivery time and productivity are communicated to each employee, who focuses on this every day. In this way, 80 employees can and will contribute daily to improvements, which also produces motivation and job satisfaction among staff.

Thus, we are entering autumn with many exciting projects and a continued belief in positive development in the industry. Follow us on LinkedIn for regular updates on new developments.

Yours sincerely,
Søren Mosevang
